TeslaScope

TeslaScope: OBD2 Diagnostics and Live Data for Tesla Owners

TeslaScope connects to your Tesla via Bluetooth ELM327 to read live CAN bus data, battery cell voltages, BMS state, and real-time gauges on Android.

Tesla's official app shows you high-level vehicle status. TeslaScope goes deeper: it connects via a Bluetooth OBD2 adapter and reads raw CAN bus data — battery cell voltages, BMS state, pack temperature, charge state details, and live sensor readings that the official app never surfaces.

What You Need

A Bluetooth ELM327 OBD2 adapter plugged into your Tesla's OBD2 port (located under the dashboard). TeslaScope pairs with the adapter over Bluetooth and begins reading data. No Wi-Fi dongle, no subscription to a cloud service, no login to a third-party account.

Battery Cell Grid

The most useful feature for battery health monitoring: individual cell voltages displayed as a grid. A healthy pack has cells within a tight voltage range of each other. Cells diverging from the group — consistently high or low — indicate developing issues before they cause noticeable performance problems or error codes.

Cell imbalance typically shows up as reduced range, degraded charging performance at high state of charge, or BMS warnings. Monitoring it over time gives you an early picture of battery health.

Live Gauges

Real-time display of:

  • Pack voltage, current draw, and state of charge
  • Battery pack temperature (inlet, outlet, min, max cell)
  • Motor temperature
  • Odometer and trip data
  • HVAC state and power draw
  • Regen and drive power in kW

BMS State Monitoring

The Battery Management System state — balancing, charging, idle, limiting — is visible in real time. During charging, you can see when the BMS is actively balancing cells and watch the process complete.

Data Logging

Log sessions to CSV for later analysis. Useful for tracking trends across multiple charge cycles, comparing performance before and after a service, or sharing data with a technician.
